Despite pledge, Obama transition fails to disclose meetings; keeps promise with searchable inauguration donor database
By Lynn Sweeton December 29, 2008 8:55 AM | Permalink | Comments (6)
WASHINGTON -- The Obama team, pledging the ''most open and transparent transition in history,'' gets an ''A'' for disclosing donors to the Jan. 20 inauguration and a ''F'' when it comes to revealing transition meetings with groups. Contrary to its own ''seat at the table transparency policy,'' meetings are not posted on a Web site.
I'm giving a ''B'' to the Obama transition report on staff contacts with Gov. Blagojevich. The report was a summary narrative released last week of an internal inquiry into Gov. Blagojevich's selling-of-a-Senate seat scandal. While the Obama team deserves credit for disclosure --... [Read More]

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's teenage daughter Bristol has given birth to a son, People magazine reported on Monday.
The 7 lb 4 oz (3.3 kilogram) baby was born on Sunday in Palmer, Alaska, and is named Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, reported People, who spoke to Sarah Palin's aunt Colleen Jones.
"The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited," Jones told the magazine.
Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee in the 2008 election, revealed during the campaign her 18-year-old daughter was pregnant and that Levi Johnston was the father. The couple have said they | ... [Read More]

NOW that Bill Clinton has re leased the list of his 205,000 donors who have given close to $500 million to his library and foundation, it is clear why he resisted releasing the list while his wife was running for president.

Contractor Gifts Could Put Hillary in Blackwater
Bill's Pals Are Hillary's Problems
Now, compelled by the Obama transition team to make it public as a condition of his wife's appointment as secretary of state, it becomes clear that the list is a virtual encyclopedia of conflicts of interest for the husband of a senator - to say nothing of the husband of an incoming secretary of state.
Particularly troubling are the massive donations from Arab... [Read More]

Obama planning billion-dollar 'bailout' for abortion industry
Jim Brown - OneNewsNow - 12/18/2008 6:00:00 AM
A pro-life group in Washington has launched a campaign to oppose what it calls president-elect Barack Obama's planned $1.5 billion "bailout" of the abortion industry.
Last week, the Obama-Biden Transition Project posted a report on its website that calls for dramatic policy reversals on abortion, including $1 billion in taxpayer money for international abortion groups like Planned Parenthood. The report, titled "Advancing Reproductive Rights and Health in a New Administration," also calls for a 133-percent increase in funding for the Title X program, which funds Planned Parenthood clinics across the country.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, is hoping a Republican-led effort in the Senate will block Obama's plan to substantially increase taxpayer funding of the... [Read More]

McCain: I can't promise to support Palin for president |

She's good enough to be his VP candidate but not good enough for President? What's up with that? Is he thinking about running again?
Link
(CNN) -- Sen. John McCain said Sunday he would not necessarily support his former running mate if she chose to run for president.
Speaking to ABC's "This Week," McCain was asked whether Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin could count on his support.
"I can't say something like that. We've got some great other young governors. I think you're going to see the governors assume a greater leadership role in our Republican Party," he said.
He then mentioned governors Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and Jon Huntsman of Utah.
McCain said he has "the greatest appreciation for Gov. Palin and her family, and it was a great joy to know them."

Just more evidence of the great cultural divide. Supposedly "shoe hurling" is an insult of the first order in Arab countries, while we get a little chuckle out of the cartoonishness of the act. Glad the pres wasn't beaned, though. Carla

ANCHORAGE, Dec. 13 -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's home church was badly damaged by arson, leading the governor to apologize Saturday if the fire was connected to "undeserved negative attention" from her campaign as the Republican vice presidential nominee.
Damage to the Wasilla Bible Church was estimated at $1 million, authorities said. No one was injured in the fire, which was set Friday night while a handful of people, including two children, were inside, according to James Steele, the Central Mat-Su fire chief.
He said the blaze was being investigated as an arson. Steele said he didn't know of any recent threats to the church, and authorities did not know whether | ... [Read More]
