Pentagon Hit by Unprecedented Cyber Attack
As a result of the cyber attack, the Defense Department has banned the use of external hardware devices throughout a vast network of military computers.

FOXNews.com

Thursday, November 20, 2008

Pentagon has suffered from a cyber attack so alarming that it has taken the unprecedented step of banning the use of external hardware devices, such as flash drives and DVD's, FOX News has learned.

The attack came in the form of a global virus or worm that is spreading rapidly throughout a number of military networks.

"We have detected a global virus for which there has been alerts, and we have seen some of this on our networks," a Pentagon official told FOX News. "We are now taking steps to mitigate the virus."

The official could not reveal the source of... [Read More]

Rep. Burton on Eric Holder NominationThursday, November 20, 2008

Dan Burton
This is a rush transcript from "Hannity & Colmes," November 19, 2008. This copy may not be in its final form and may be updated.

ALAN COLMES, CO-HOST: Welcome to "Hannity & Colmes". Getting right to our "Top Story" tonight. And it is the growing saga surrounding the possible nomination of Eric Holder as the next United States attorney general.

Multiple reports yesterday indicated that Holder is the president- elect's top choice to fill the position, but Holder's past as a member of the Clinton administration is already under scrutiny.

As deputy attorney general, Holder had oversight over the controversial last minute Clinton pardons including that of fugitive financier Marc Rich. Earlier today Pennsylvania senator, Arlen Specter, who is the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee,... [Read More]

Citizens' Council Reaction to Daschle as HHS Head
Nov 21, 2008 - 1:34 PM - by CarlaL48
Having been born in a corner of Montana close to South Dakota, and having many relatives still there, I know what fine and sensisble folks these westerners are. So how they have promoted T. Daschle all these years is a complete mystery to me. Now, THIS is one appointment that is completely in keeping with what we know are Obamarx' socialist roots! Carla

"Mr. Obama's choice for Secretary of HHS signals a plan to eliminate free-markets and resurrect national health care.

"In his March 3, 2008 Huffington Post article, "Progressive Solutions to American's Health-Care Crisis," Tom Daschle publicly calls... [Read More]

Bush and Olmert to Meet over Iran's Nuclear Capability
Nov 21, 2008 - 1:18 PM - by CarlaL48
Probably nothing will come from such a publicly announced meeting between Bush and Olmert, but I'm glad to see our president still front and center for however a short time he has left.

While I have, like you, been disappointed on several scores with President Bush, I still have great respect for the man and the role he's played in keeping us safe since 9/11. Funny how we all said at the time, "Never forget." Funny how most who said it can't remember why they said it. Carla

Bush and Olmert to meet over Iran's nuclear ambitions
The White House, announcing the meeting with Mr Olmert, gave little indication that Tehran's nuclear ambitions would be at the top of the agenda

Hillary to Get SOS Nod after Thanksgiving
Nov 21, 2008 - 1:05 PM - by CarlaL48
Does anyone else feel like there's some comfort in the devil-you-know going into Obamarx' administration? Carla

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2008...-thanksgiving/

The rumors are starting to sound like reality. President-elect Barack Obama is poised to nominate Hillary Clinton as secretary of state after Thanksgiving, sources in Obama's transition team say.

One week after the former primary rivals met secretly to discuss the idea of Clinton becoming the nation's top diplomat, the two sides were moving quickly toward making it a reality, barring any unforeseen problems.

One transition aide told The Associated Press that the two camps have worked out financial disclosure issues involving Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton, and the complicated international funding of his foundation that operates in 27 countries. The aide said Obama and Hillary Clinton have had substantive conversations about the secretary of state job.

A transition aide confirmed those... [Read More]

Big Three Auto Execs Fly in Luxury to BEG for Bucks
Nov 19, 2008 - 10:07 PM - by CarlaL48
Do you think this will affect the decision of any of the legislators who play so free and loose with our tax dollars? I say "Let them declare bankruptcy and get the UAW monkey off their backs!" Carla

Big Three Auto Execs Flew in Luxury Jets to Seek Multibillion-Dollar Bailout
Wednesday, November 19, 2008

FILE: A Gulfstream luxury jet sits on an airport tarmac.
The CEOs of the Big Three automakers reportedly flew private luxury jets to Washington to plead for a $25 billion taxpayer bailout to save their debt-ridden industry — ringing up tens of thousands in charges even as they cried poverty.

Recipients of eight-figure bonuses in 2007, the corporate cowboys used their executive perks — which for GM's Rick Wagoner include the run of a $36 million Gulfstream IV jet — to arrive in style as they went begging before Congress.

Wagoner, whose flight reportedly cost $20,000 round-trip — about 70 times more than a commercial airline ticket... [Read More]

Waking the Sleeping Giant
Nov 12, 2008 - 1:39 PM - by CarlaL48
Okay, folks, it's been one week since the sobering shock of defeat in the 2008 presidential election. I've been waffling, trying to identify where to focus and shake the malaise which has had me in a chokehold. (I think our wonderful site admin., Shane, has been having similar feelings.)

In another thread a few of us have talked about where to go from here. The discussion has been good, but it hasn't been widespread throughout the membership. We've talked about changing the focus to a more general view of conservatism, and not identifying with any particular candidate. On the other hand, some have recommended putting our money on the table and naming our candidate quickly - in order to build the momentum that'll be needed for the battle of 2012. And I've been in agreement with all suggestions - until now.

We can find plenty of sites and blogs devoted to conservatism - Rush, A. Coulter, Hannity, Mark Levin and on and on. So I've come to the conclusion that yes, we need to start building our candidate for 2012 - Governor Sarah Palin. If she decides to run, she'll have to declare in a couple of years, and to do that, she'll have to know that she... [Read More]
